Top: I really was testing out a new film in 1980 when I ran in to Karen at the top. It was in Unity Village, MO right in the original Myrtle Fillmore grove. That used to be a marvelous place to sit and meditate.Rabbits always seemed to stop by. The light that day was so wonderful I had to ask to shoot. Cathy (lower left) was with a group of us on a 1980 retreat in Memphis. The light and the air under the tree swing were both marvelous. I love her smile. She's so tolerant.
Charlotte (lower right) was a special education teacher in Auburn, New York. She cared deeply for the very young school-age children in her charge. They sometimes mis-behaved simply because life's simplest tasks could be so frustratingly hard for them. They had to fight so hard just to stay in the game. Over the 1973 Christmas holiday one of her small charges, who had had to relearn life's simple things more than once, lost his fight against a debilitating condition. He died. Charlotte cried for him for a long time.
